Julie found herself facing an impossible situation.
Already experiencing homelessness, she was temporarily staying with her brother when she received devastating news: her beloved Cavoodles, Jet and Ruby, had to be out in less than two weeks, no exceptions.
With no money to cover boarding, Julie was left with the heartbreaking reality that she might have to surrender Jet and Ruby if she couldn’t find a safe place for them.
Julie’s situation had been incredibly challenging.
After being scammed out of her life savings, she’d been struggling to make ends meet, relying on her DSP pension and paying $525 a month in storage fees for her belongings. This had left her with very little to spare. Despite her efforts applying for rental properties, she hadn’t been successful.
Desperate to buy time, Julie and her support worker reached out to Pets Of The Homeless, hoping we could help her precious companions.
We worked quickly to find loving foster homes for Jet and Ruby, ensuring they would be safe and cared for until Julie secured permanent housing.
Sadly, this situation is all too common, with so many people facing challenging situations which put them and their pets at risk.
But through the provision of pet food and supplies, veterinary care, and safe shelter, things are changing for the better.
Best of all, having this peace of mind gives vulnerable people the breathing space to get back on their feet, while providing comfort in knowing that their special bond with their precious pets will never be broken. Your support is helping to make this happen.
